An 8.8 magnitude earthquake off the south-east coast of Russia has brought about Tsunami waves that have disrupted the rollout of Elden Ring Nightreign’s 1.02 patch, which was set to bring two-player co-op to FromSoftware’s latest title.

The earthquake, which occurred at 11:25am local time on Wednesday (00:25am BST), has brought waves to Japan’s northern Coast, triggering Tsunami warnings in China, Hawaii, the Philippines, Indonesia, and elsewhere on the Pacific coast.

FromSoftware announces Elden Ring Nightreign patch delay

As such, the Japanese developer has delayed the release of the update until tomorrow, providing the following statement on social media:

“Due to the tsunami warning following the earthquake near the Kamchatka Peninsula, we have decided to postpone the distribution of the ‘ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN’ Patch 1.02, which was scheduled for today to tomorrow, July 31 (Thursday) after 10:00CEST | 1:00 PDT.” (11:00BST)

Due to the tsunami warning following the earthquake near the Kamchatka Peninsula, we have decided to postpone the distribution of the ‘ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN’ Patch 1.02, which was scheduled for today to tomorrow, July 31 (Thursday) after 10:00CEST | 1:00 PDT.

The news means that two-player co-op will be delayed, as well as other aspects of the patch which FromSoftware state are “quality-of-life UI improvements, including more Relics filtering options.” However, if all goes to plan, the additional wait should only be a day, so stay prepared Nightfarers.

Next Everdark Sovereign cycle also delayed

The developer also added the following details to the above tweet, stating, “Additionally, the second cycle of Everdark Sovereign, which was scheduled to start at 03:00 CEST | 18:00 PDT (7/30) [04:00 BST] tomorrow, will also be delayed until after the update file has been distributed. Thank you for your understanding.”

Everdark Sovereign cycles are special, limited-time events in Nightreign, where players can make ‘Expeditions’ to face tougher foes for greater rewards, including the valuable special current Sovereign Sigils, which can only be obtained during the events by defeating Nightlords. The delay prevents the rollout of the next event, which features updated enemies and bosses.

Additionally, the second cycle of Everdark Sovereign, which was scheduled to start at 03:00 CEST | 18:00 PDT (7/30) tomorrow, will also be delayed until after the update file has been distributed.

Thank you for your understanding.

Nightreign players may be disappointed they have to wait, but some things are much bigger than video games. Esports News UK hopes all affected by the Tsunami and Tsunami warnings remain safe.
